Newcomer in our special material options September 23, 2017

Another most significant feature in the boot-making process is the harmony between the different materials used, they must work together to create an integrated composition. Our expert select materials and colors from hundred of tanneries to ensure they blend together perfectly. We strive to make the best possible composition. And in order to make it happen, now we are bringing waxed Essex flesh leather in dark brown and tan from a respectable tannery (Horween).

Essex is a vegetable tanned side leather that utilizes the same traditional tanning extracts as Genuine Shell Cordovan.  It took Horween almost three years to develop and perfect.  This tannage is marked by a high oil content and ages beautifully over time. The Essex family of leather is very versatile and can be used in a wide variety of products. This version of Essex is waxed on the flesh side making it lovely and supple and perfect for unlined products

Also another newcomer in our special material options from the respectable company that has been established since 1825 (Charles F Stead & Co. Ltd). This one is our personal favorite: AFRICAN KUDU – BUSHWACKER from Charles F Stead & Co. Ltd. These hides show every possible scar, defect, bite related to life in one of the wildest part of the world. This type of leather is very natural with an extreme pull-up they would make a great “beater” shoe: Very rough and casual.~

The Kudu is an antelope from Southern Africa, living wild in the bush. The antelope family have traditionally provided skins, which make unique leather. A striking combination of softness with strength and natural grain blemishes. This type of leather would make a great “beater” shoe. Very rough and casual.
